There are no shortages of places to drink in Vang Vieng, but once the clock strikes midnight, there are limited options, and some that you may never even know existed. Sadly, Jungle Party is no more, but if you carry on reading you will find a few options to keep partying, or just have a quiet drink and a late night bite to eat.
Along with Sakura (more below) and Gary’s Irish Bar, Jaidee’s is something of a Vang Vieng institution. Indeed, the man himself, Jaidee, has been entertaining tourists for more years than even the Discover VV staff have been enjoying the delights of Vang Vieng.
Like Jaidee’s, Full Moon has moved locations a few times over the years, and now has a large site on the same road as Jaidee and La Cigale. While they don’t open as late as some of the places on this list, the kitchen doesn’t close until midnight.
A relative newcomer to Vang Vieng’s nightlife, though the owner has been a resident for many years, YoYo Bar is a chilled bar with a lounge area and a good spot for late night drinks if nightclubs are not for your liking.
Anyone who visited Vang Vieng back in the day will remember Q Bar. Viva Pub is basically a huge expansion on the same site.
Lit up just as brightly on the outside as Viva is Room 101. This nightclub is straight across the road from Viva and attracts many of the young locals. 101 is smaller than Viva but does have a newly fitted chillout area at the front.
If you want to go where tourists rarely do, then head to Heartbeat. This Lao nightclub will fill up with locals nightly, and often features live music as well as DJs. To get to Heartbeat you will need your own transport or use a tuk tuk. Don’t forget about planning how to get back into town after though.
To be honest, none of the Discover VV staff ever visit these places with the exception of KTV Pool Hall. However, they are largely popular with Asians and Lao locals. To that end you can expect Thai and Lao pop music and a young crowd.
Just looking for somewhere to eat late at night and maybe get a cold Beerlao too? Try one of the noodle soup shops that open later than the rest. Across the road from Central Backpackers is one such shop. No guarantee the shop will be open every night, but when they are you can enjoy very good noodle soup and cold beer after midnight.
